ATTEMPTED BREAK AND ENTER - 700 block of Mackenize Ave


09-17-2013 - September 17, 2013 shortly after 9:00 P.M. a homeowner in the 700 block of Mackenzie Avenue was startled by a suspect attempting to gain access to his residence by going through his backdoor. 

The suspect fled southbound on foot at which time the homeowner followed on his bicycle. 

The homeowner happened to come across the suspect who appeared to be trying to conceal himself by remaining still, while seated on a large rock in a neighboring yard. 

After being detected, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction at which time the Revelstoke RCMP were notified. 

RCMP circulated the neighborhood and canvassed local businesses to keep a watchful eye out for the suspect described as:  an adult male, in his 20's, 6 foot, 215 pounds, an athletic build, short dark hair, wearing a dark colored hoody and dark colored pants.

Revelstoke RCMP are advising the public to ensure they lock their doors and windows, especially at night and when leaving your residence unattended.  For additional security purposes, they encourage you to have appropriate lighting for both inside and outside your residence. 

Revelstoke RCMP recommend that you do not approach the suspect in cases like this one and to contact them immediately by dialing 911 or calling the Revelstoke Detachment at 250 837 5255.
